The Great Uniform Sale: Help Our Planet and Our School GO GREEN!
Growing kids means uniforms are often outgrown before they’ve barely been worn – so let’s put them to good use!
Donations of freshly laundered, in-good-condition uniforms can be brought to the lobby the last week of School, June 1-4.
On June 24 and 25, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., we will host our first Great Uniform Sale. Please stop by to stock up!
Beside a great savings on uniform purchases, this is a fantastic way to show our Geckos how to go green.
Did you know:
The average person throws away 82 of pounds clothing per year.
It creates 3.8 billion pounds of unnecessary landfill waste per year.
Only 15% of clothing waste gets donated or recycled.
Production of ONE T-shirt consumes 1/3 pound of pesticide & 700 gallons of water (1800 gallons for one pair of pants!).
If each Gillispie student reuses one t-shirt, it would save enough water to shower daily for 20 years!
Every pound of clothes contribute three to four pounds of CO2 & other greenhouse gasses.
For our Geckos, green is the new black. Save those uniforms now and get ready to go the next size up the eco-friendly way!
A big thanks to the Lane family and the Community Relations Committee for spearheading this effort.
