Friends in Rosewood are starting the exciting journey of learning to write their names! They begin by recognizing the first letter and will gradually learn all the letters in their names. By the end of the school year, Rosewood friends will be able to confidently write or recognize the letters that make up their name, with little to no assistance. This process isn’t just about mastering letters; it’s also about fostering creativity and personal expression. Each month, our early childhood teachers will introduce fun and engaging activities tailored to the children's interests or requests. We celebrate each child’s growth, honoring their unique progress at every stage of this journey.
For September’s activity, each child received a white piece of paper with their first initial outlined in black Sharpie. They were then given a variety of shaped stickers to place along the letter's outline. Some children chose to cover the entire letter, while others focused on specific edges or parts. This activity allowed them to express their creativity and personality through their approach to decorating their letter.
Beyond being a fun, artistic project, this exercise helped children practice fine motor skills, foster independence, and make decisions. It encouraged self-expression and built confidence in their choices. The variety of results highlighted each child’s individuality, making the activity both engaging and valuable for their personal growth. It set a positive tone for a year full of creativity, exploration, and learning!
