We believe the environment a child works in is crucial to the learning that takes place. Our provocative classrooms are highly organized and divided into a number of small spaces where students are free to explore independently, and collaboratively, with teachers and peers. A wide variety of materials are intentionally placed to inspire investigation and creativity. Our indoor and outdoor environments reflect a strong belief in the importance of valuing the voice of the child and support opportunities to work together with others, develop and challenge theories, and problem solve.
“Children utilize mathematical thinking, oral language, reading, writing, and science to research and find answers to their questions and theories.”Developing and sustaining relationships with families is an essential part of our prekindergarten program. We believe that parents are our partners in sustaining our caring community and we value your ideas and collaboration, as this helps support children in their growth at school and at home.
Gillispie’s prekindergarten program is full day (8:30-3:00) which allows children long blocks of time for discovery and investigation, as well as providing time for weekly specialties such as music, P.E., and library.
