Healthy and Grateful

We can all think of a relative, friend, coworker, or neighbor who has faced recent health challenges.  While we don’t take our well-being for granted, sometimes having a sick loved one reminds us of how lucky we are to be healthy.

It’s difficult to know how to help friends experiencing life changing illnesses or injuries.  Words fall short, and while there’s often nothing tangible we can do to alleviate their pain, donating blood in honor of a loved one will directly impact the health and well-being of someone else who is suffering.

On February 5, 2014, The Gillispie School is hosting its fifth annual blood drive.  I will donate blood in honor of my father, John Babine, and my friend, Jessi Epperson, who have each shown great fortitude and bravery in their battles with cancer.  Please consider honoring a loved one by making an appointment to donate blood.

The Gillispie School’s Annual Blood Drive
Wednesday, February 5, 2014

11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Walk-ins are welcome, but please make an appointment ASAP so we can meet our quota or we risk cancellation.

Third Grade Bake Sale
Wednesday, February 5, 2014

8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Donations will be gratefully accepted for family-sized treats in supporting the San Diego Blood Bank. Only adults may purchase items. There will also be an exciting cake raffle.

Whether or not you are eligible or plan to donate blood, there are several other ways that you can help with the events. How about…

~posting fliers at your gym, market, or workplace?
~notifying friends and family member and encouraging them to donate blood on 2/5/14?
~contacting local newspapers, TV, or radio stations about the event?
~baking something for for the bake sale?

Do you have any other ideas regarding the promotion of the blood drive?
