Imaginative play is an important part of our Early Childhood (EC) students’ day.
A child’s imagination significantly influences early development, enhancing cognitive, creative, and social skills. Imaginative play enables children to delve into their thoughts and emotions, fostering creative problem-solving abilities. These skills become instrumental as children form friendships and pursue personal goals.
In addition, fantasy and make-believe activities are valuable tools for teaching crucial social skills such as communication, empathy, perspective-taking, and problem-solving. Engaging in imaginative play cultivates curiosity and creativity and has the potential to increase success in school.
Our Early Childhood teachers captured their students busy becoming bear hunters, looking after pandas, building a garage, burying a book, and more. Check out what out these “Happy Happenings” from EC!
BEAR HUNTERS
Our students became “Bear Hunters” when they turned hair rollers into telescopes to search for bears. The story unfolded and sure enough, they found the bear!
PANDA HOUSE
Students built a “Panda House” with a large “wall” of blocks for the pandas to sit on. They also found bamboo shoots to feed the Pandas.
CLEANING THE PANDA HOUSE
The ”Bamboo leaves” made quite a mess so the “cleaning crew” grabbed brooms and a dustpan and began sweeping up all the leaves!
WASHING TRAIN TRACKS
One student was on a mission to wash the train tracks that had “a lot of snow and dirt.” Luckily, a good friend helped her complete her task!
ROBOTS WITH MUSCLES
These “robots” have been working out. Check out all those “muscles”!
HAMMER TIME
With safety goggles on and mallets in hand, our students began hammering golf tees into an old pumpkin. It took a lot of hand-eye coordination to get the golf tees back into the pre-made holes left from the previous hammering!
CAR FIXER HOUSE
Using every bock, our student built “a house to fix the small cars.” This thoughtfully designed garage included a ramp and a platform.
BURYING A BOOK
After reading a book together, our students decided it was so special they wanted to hide it. So block by block, they buried the treasure!
