With Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. day upon us, Room 6 students learned about the great leader and his message through a variety of experiences, including reading and discussing the book Martin's Big Words and role-playing what it would be like to deny access to the classroom of anyone with straight hair (only Sydney and Rohan would be allowed!). Head of School Alison Fleming visits with Grade 5 student Hallee C. to learn more about her state, Colorado, during today's Grade 5 State Fair. Meanwhile, a group of Grade 1 boys enjoy learning about South Carolina thanks to the work of Emma O. The state projects resulted from several months of research (including first-person interviews), writing, editing, and multimedia work.
