PreKindergarten students have been reading about the vast sea life that lives in our oceans, including the octopus. During their study of The Great Barrier Reef in Australia, they have been learning about the Blue Ringed Octopus, one of the world’s most poisonous creatures.
Hands-on exploration of some actual octopus specimens elicited remarks such as, “It’s slimy, but cool,” and “Wow! Look at all the suckers!”
The students spent nearly 2 hours sharing, observing, and touching a creature they had learned so much about, bringing their previous lessons alive.
