This week P.E. teachers Mr. Whelan and Ms. Kibblewhite devised several “trust challenges” for sixth graders to complete. In the photo above, blindfolded students followed verbal directions to move a marble through a series of connected tubes without dropping it. In another exercise, two students would stand shoulder to shoulder with their inside arms around each other. They would then use their outside arms in unison to perform coordinated tasks like tying each other’s shoes. Such activities encourage teamwork, trust, clear communication, and leadership.
