Although reversing numbers is developmentally appropriate during Kindergarten, our soon-to-be first graders are old enough to want to get it right. In fact, the ability to self-check one’s work and recognize when something is incorrect is a key skill for lifelong learners. To support students in their development of this skill, Mrs. Auld and Ms. Quinton created this fun but purposeful number hunt. The teachers were really pleased to see how carefully the children looked at each number, and we were impressed with how quickly they were able to spot the difference between a “right” number and a “wrong” one.
