On Friday, April 25, Gillispie Grade 6 students participated in a “Vow of Silence,” to raise money for the non-profit organization Free The Children.
The students vowed to stay silent and refrain from any form of communication for 24 hours in symbolic support of children around the world whose laws are not protecting them. They asked for pledge donations to help support their cause and together they raised the amazing sum of nearly $3000 for the charity.
Free The Children supports projects that build schools, provide alternative sources of income and implement clean water and sanitation projects for children living in poverty in developing countries. For more information on the charity, visitfreethechildren.com.
Thank you to everyone who helped support this amazing Grade 6 initiative!
