This week, our early childhood classrooms had an exciting visit from the firefighters of Station 13! They kicked off the day with a morning meeting where they shared the big news and sparked curiosity by asking questions like, “What color do you think the truck will be?” and “Will they have a black and white dog?”
When it was time, the children eagerly walked to the front of the school where the big red fire truck was waiting. The firefighters introduced themselves and demonstrated how they put on their full gear—helping the children feel safe and understand that even with the mask and suit, there’s a friendly helper underneath. High-fives from the suited-up firefighter were a big hit!
Next, the children got an up-close look at the fire truck. They learned about the many hoses and compartments, watched a water demonstration, and even got to touch the hose themselves. The visit wrapped up with a walk around the truck, badge stickers for everyone, and a cheerful group photo in front of the engine.
The students did ask the firefighters if they had a black and white dog. Sadly, they didn’t—but they said they’d love one. The students hope they will someday!
We are so grateful to Fire Station 13 for taking the time to visit and share their important work with our students. It was a memorable morning full of learning, excitement, and smiles!
