Nurturing Strong Minds and Strong Bodies
…we use time, financial resources, and physical space to create an environment that develops confident, competent children of character.
– from The Gillispie School’s Vision for 2020
Plans are underway for the development of a playing field at 7411 Fay Drive!
The Gillispie experience surpasses the mere transmission of knowledge and skills. Our School stands by its commitment to the youngest members of society – a promise to nurture their minds, bodies, and spirits.
Parents cherish their children’s experiences at Gillispie but have always wished for their children to have daily access to an outdoor playing field. The area will more than double the current play space for outdoor activity and complement the existing sport court and gymnasium.
Research has shown that regular outdoor activity promotes not only healthy physical growth, but also psychological and social benefits by:
- Enhancing fitness and fostering physical development
- Teaching children how to interact and negotiate with peers
- Increasing confidence and promoting self-esteem
- Increasing the ability to concentrate, decreasing anxiety, and improving mood and outlook
With 100% participation from our families, this dream will become a reality for our children today and for children of generations to come.
