The “Art in Action” supply drive for the Monarch School was a tremendous success! We collected over 16 boxes full of wonderful supplies that will greatly benefit Monarch School, which serves students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 who have been impacted by homelessness. Monarch Volunteer Coordinator Katie Bradel was thrilled when she came to pick up all of the materials Tuesday afternoon. She was overwhelmed by your generosity and knows first-hand the impact these items will have in Monarch’s art therapy program and newly developed art elective courses.
Our effort to support Monarch School represents Gillispie’s school-wide effort this year to help individuals in San Diego who are dealing with homelessness. Throughout the year, individual classrooms have and will continue to participate in other great projects through St. Vincent de Paul (second and fifth grades), San Diego Food Bank (fourth grade), and Free the Children (sixth grade).
I would personally like to thank each and every one of you for your art supply donations! This was an amazing way to kick off the new school year and work together as a Gillispie community.
