This month, one of our early childhood classes launched the April Name Journey, a project that combined creativity, literacy, and hands-on learning. Each child was given a sheet of paper with their name written in large bubble letters and a colorful assortment of molding clay to bring their letters to life.

The children used scissors to trim and shape the clay just right, carefully filling the black letter outlines with colorful, textured designs. The result? Personalized 3D name art that practically jumped off the page!

Learning letters this way was not only fun but also offered a meaningful learning experience. As the children pressed, rolled, and shaped the clay, they were engaged in letter recognition practice. The class named each letter, talked about the sound it made, and brainstormed words that began with that letter.

This creative process gave our students the chance to slow down, be intentional, and celebrate their progress—not just in literacy, but in patience, creativity, and confidence. It was wonderful to witness how proud the children were of their finished name art.
