After spring break, our early childhood students returned to a surprise—their bean seeds had sprouted! It was wonderful to see our students marvel at the tiny green stems and delicate roots. They asked lots of questions and discovered what plants need to grow: soil, water, and sunlight.

With care, each student transferred their bean plants into a shared classroom pot. They dug small holes, tucked the seedlings inside, and gave them their first watering. Each child played a role in this collaborative planting project, proudly contributing to something that is growing because of their care.

Since then, our early childhood students have been nurturing the plants daily, watering them and noticing every change. As their curiosity grew, so did their learning—this time about helpful garden visitors like bees and butterflies.

It’s been inspiring to watch our children take ownership of their plants, building responsibility, patience, and care as they grow. Through this hands-on experience, they’re also developing collaboration skills and forming a deeper connection to the natural world.
