Our friends in Spruce joyfully celebrated the Moon Festival, a cherished tradition in many Asian countries, typically observed from late September to mid-October. Students learned about Japanese legends, including the story of a generous bunny who lives on the moon. The children were captivated by the tale and the kindness of the rabbit, which inspired a mini-unit filled with rabbit-themed activities and the baking of delicious snow mooncakes.
The week concluded with a festive parade, where students proudly wore their hand-crafted bunny ears and carried their handmade lanterns.
Celebrating the Moon Festival gave our students the opportunity to appreciate and learn about Japanese culture and traditions, while also teaching them about kindness. It was a week filled with fun, creativity, and compassion.
