Gillispie “Gem” of the Week

Grade 6 students are getting a well-rounded education of body and mind this year. During a recent P.E.-time visit to the pool at La Jolla High School, Luke B. enjoys beating the heat we’ve been experiencing. And to support the sixth graders’ study of ancient civilizations, Gillispie art teacher Susan Walters offered a clay-based project that she’d never done before–inspired by France’s 17,000 year old Lascaux cave paintings (discovered by children in 1940!). Drop by outside the Grade 6 classroom to see these primitive, impressive works.
